Two countries should not mean double tax. Residency, split-year treatment, treaty relief and overseas income — handled by advisers who live between the UK and Central-Eastern Europe themselves.

How we work

Lives lived in more than one country create tax questions that neither country’s high-street accountant can answer alone: where you are resident, how a split year is treated, which state taxes which income, and how to stop the same money being taxed twice. International & Cross-Border Tax answers them with both ends in view.

We determine residence under the Statutory Residence Test, apply the right double-tax treaty, claim foreign tax credits, and file the UK side correctly — coordinating with home-country advisers across our Romania–Moldova–Ukraine corridor and beyond, in your language.

Frequently asked questions

I moved to the UK mid-year — how am I taxed?

Usually under split-year treatment: the year divides into a non-resident and a resident part, each taxed on different income. Whether split-year applies depends on precise conditions — it is the first thing we check.

Will my foreign income be taxed twice?

The treaty between the UK and the other country decides who taxes what, and foreign tax credits absorb most overlaps. Double taxation is almost always avoidable — but only if the claims are made properly.

Do I need to declare foreign bank accounts and property?

UK residents generally declare worldwide income, including foreign rent and interest. HMRC already receives data from most countries automatically — declaring properly is both compulsory and safer than hoping.

Can you work with my accountant back home?

Yes — corridor coordination is the core of this service. Two filings, one consistent story.
